Category A - Stories on Innovation and Creative Use of Sustainable Energy to fight Climate Change using Climate Science
- Written by Children & Youth (School Students)
- Identify and report innovative ways of increasing awareness and use of sustainable energy in their communities through sustainable energy methods
- Include pictures and notes related to the sustainable enery examples
- Compose a short story based on the selected example (sustainable energy)

Category B - Prototypes of Technological Solutions or Innovations related to Sustainable Enery & Climate Science
- Team submission for this Online Competition for School Students (minimum three people)
- Develop and present technological solutions or innovations using clean, renewable, or sustainable energy
- Take photos of energy-related (sustainable energy) problems in the community
- Document the testing process, impact, and learnings of the solution which will deal problems related to Sustainable Energy

Category C - Sample or Case Studies of Best Practices, and Educational Materials for Sustainable Enery Production or Consumption based on Climate Science for Climate Change
- Open to all formal and informal educators
- Share best practices and educational materials used to engage communities on sustainable energy
- Provide evidence of educational sessions, methodology, and materials used
Prizes for the Winners of this Competition
- All winners receive certificates from the Commonwealth Secretariat
- Winning entries (one per Commonwealth region) get the opportunity to pitch their ideas to local governments and policymakers, and implement their Climate Science Solution
- Grand prize for this Climate Change Competition: Sponsorship to the UNFCCC COP 28 in Dubai, UAE for one representative of the winning entry in the age 15-17 category

- Impact of the Innovative Prototype or Created Solution on the community (reach, uptake, engagement, replicability)
- Innovation (creativity, uniqueness)

- Appropriateness and feasibility for the local context (cost, resource availability, relevance)

- Potential to address needs and gaps of the Sustainable Energy Transition
- Team & Project Make-up (expertise, intergenerational, diversity)
- Potential to support audience variability of underserved and minority groups
- Technicality and market potential (for Category B - Technological Solution)
Judges
The first round of judging for this Climate Change Competition for Student will be conducted by international youth from across the Commonwealth, including members of CSET Youth Action Group, Commonwealth Youth for Sustainable Urbanisation, Commonwealth scholars, and the SDG7 Youth Constituency.
