About the Competition
The Sony World Photography Awards is an international photography competition that rewards outstanding single images. It is open to all members of the public, including school students from preschool to senior school.
Competition Details
- Entry is free, and participants have a chance to win $5,000, top Sony digital imaging equipment, and more.
- Participants can submit up to three single images taken in 2023.
- There are ten diverse categories to choose from, including Architecture, Creative, Motion, Landscape, Lifestyle, Natural World & Wildlife, Object, Portraiture, Street Photography, and Travel.

Competition Rules
- The competition is free to enter, and participants must accept the competition rules and terms and conditions.
- Entries must be submitted by January 5, 2024, at 13:00 GMT.
- Images must be taken in 2023 and should adhere to the category descriptions.
- Each image should be in JPEG format, no smaller than 1MB and no larger than 5MB, and saved in the sRGB color model.
- Manipulated images are allowed, but the extent of manipulation must be described in the image description section during submission.
- Participants retain full ownership of the copyright in their entries but grant the World Photography Organisation a three-year license to use and promote the images for specific purposes.
Judging and Announcement
- Entries will be judged between January 8, 2024, and January 31, 2024.
- Up to 15 photographers will be shortlisted per category, and category winners will be selected and announced before April 2024.
- The overall winner of the Open Photographer of the Year title will also be announced in April 2024.
- The judging panel's decision is final, and winners will be notified by email.
