The International Wildbird Photo Competition 2024, hosted by the renowned Bird and Nature Festival, provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills and raise awareness for nature conservation through captivating wildlife photography. Submissions are welcome until the deadline on December 4, 2023.

For over three decades, the Bird and Nature Festival has celebrated the beauty of spring and avian wonders at the internationally acclaimed Bay of Somme. With a legacy of nine days filled with educational and captivating activities, this festival is a must-visit for bird enthusiasts.
International Photography Competition 2023 Details
In its 33rd edition, the International Wildbird Photo Competition 2023 is now one of Europe's top 10 renowned Wildlife Photography Competitions. Its primary aim is to demonstrate the high quality of wildlife photography while promoting the crucial cause of nature conservation through the art of photography. Winning images and the Jury's selection will be showcased during the event from April 20 to April 28, 2024.
Categories in this International Wildlife Photography Competition
Participants can choose from five primary categories, open to photographers of all ages, as well as a special category exclusively for young photographers aged 15 to 17:
Bird Portrait
- Showcase the character and distinctive features of birds in close-up or group shots.Bird in the Environment
- Illustrate the relationship between birds and their natural or urban habitats, emphasizing the importance of the environment.Bird Behavior
- Capture unique, interesting, or remarkable bird behaviors, from feeding to nuptial displays.Bird in Flight
- Freeze birds in action while flying, taking off, landing, or flocking, focusing on composition, light, and background.Artistic Vision of Bird
- Showcase your creativity by providing an artistic interpretation of birds, offering a fresh perspective on their beauty.Young Talent
- Exclusively for 15-17-year-olds, this category focuses on wildbirds. No registration fees apply, and participants may submit up to five photos with parental permission.
Prizes in this International Photography Contest 2023
Winners will receive recognition and prizes, including a Grand Prix, 1st prizes in each category, and a Public Prize. The overall winner will be awarded €1,500, and each category winner will receive €800. Young photographers will have a chance to win €500. All winners will be invited to the Award Ceremony, where they'll enjoy additional perks, including hotel stays and train tickets.
How to Submit in this Photography Competition 2023
To participate, simply submit your entries online by the December 4, 2023 deadline. Ensure that your files are in JPEG format and adhere to the specified dimensions without any margin, frame, or signature.

The Jury in this Photo Competition 2023
All submitted photographs will be evaluated by a diverse jury of photographers, naturalists, and ornithologists in December. The same jury will convene on January 18 and 19, 2024, to select the winning photos and maintain anonymity throughout the process.
Exhibition in this Nature Photography Competition 2023
To create the Photo Competition exhibition for the 33rd Bird and Nature Festival, a professional lab will be responsible for printing the selected photos based on the submitted files. During the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo, determining the recipient of the Public Prize.
