Green Olympiad 2023 - Environmental Quiz Contest for School Students
About Green Olympiad
- Green Olympiad is an annual written examination on the environment initiated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in 1999.
- The exam is conducted by the Educating Youth for Sustainable Development Division of TERI and endorsed by UNESCO and DESD.
- Participation is open to school students in grades 4-12 across India and abroad.
Eligibility and Exam Details
- Students enrolled in schools affiliated with recognized educational boards or trusts are eligible to participate.
- Green Olympiad 2023 exam dates are on September 1 and October 12, conducted offline.
- The exam centers are the respective schools, with question papers and OMR sheets provided by the GREEN Olympiad Secretariat.
Registration and Fees
- School-based registration is accepted, either online or offline, through the TERI website.
- The last date for registration is July 15, 2023.
- The registration fee is ₹200 per student for schools in India (USD 6 for schools outside India), with additional charges for sample paper booklets.
Exam Topics and Levels
- The exam covers Environment & Sustainable Development and Green Skills topics.
- Multiple-choice questions are included in the exam, with no negative marking.
- Topics include water, waste, energy, agriculture, biodiversity, green infrastructure, circular economy, and more.
- Students from grades 4 to 12 can participate in different levels based on their standard.
Prizes and Incentives
- Certificates are awarded to all participants in the distinction, merit, and participation categories.
- Coordinating teachers receive certificates as well.
- Book vouchers are given to Global Rank Holders, and participants are invited to TERI's environmental events.
- Opportunity to participate in capacity-building workshops on environmental themes is provided.
