Who Can Participate in the ClimateScience Olympiad?
The CSO24 Climate Science Competition is open to both School and College Students, with three age brackets: under 16s, 17-19, and 20-25 years old. Regardless of age, all participants compete in the same qualifiers and tackle the same problem statements, evaluated based on their respective age categories.

Climate Science Competition Details
1. Qualifiers
- Early Bird: Opens - 14th July 2023 | Closes - 24th November 2023
- Regular: Opens - 20th January 2024 | Closes - 20th May 2024
Format: The Qualifiers consist of a 25-minute online quiz with 10 multiple-choice questions. To advance to the Quarter Finals, achieve 8 or more correct answers. Participants can attempt the Qualifier up to 3 times, with the chance to earn an extra attempt through our referral program.
Certificate: All participants receive a certificate for participation, a valuable addition to college applications and resumes. Boost your chances by practicing on our quiz app, available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.
2. Quarter Finals
- Early Bird: Opens - 14th July 2023 | Closes - 30th November 2023
- Regular: Opens - 20th January 2024 | Closes - 31st May 2024
Format: The Quarter Finals are a 25-minute online quiz with 15 in-depth multiple-choice questions. Achieve 13 or more correct answers to progress to the Semi Finals. Participants receive one attempt for each successful Qualifier attempt.

3. Semi-Finals
- Early Bird: Opens - February 2024 - March 2024
- Regular: Opens - June 2024 - July 2024
Timeline: Semi Finals occur every first Sunday of each month, including 4th June, 2nd July, and 6th August.
Format: Semi-Finals focus on three key themes with 9 topics in total, covering areas like Clean Energy, Sustainable Development, and Biodiversity. Participants receive their topics 10 days in advance and must write a 1000-word proposal in 3 hours, addressing social equity, feasibility, and rapid implementation. Internet research is allowed.
4. Finals
The Finals take place in September 2024 - October 2024.
Format: Finalists tackle complex global problems by writing a 3000-word proposal and presenting their solutions in a 20-minute session evaluated by renowned scientists and policy-makers. Awards include Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals, with top teams earning a sponsored trip to Dubai, UAE, during COP28.
